Urban Area Parameters
by SIR
International studies suggest that 2000-Watts continuous power per person are compatible with the goal of keeping climate warming below 2°C. Regions and communities in Switzerland have therefore decided to follow this principle of a 2000-Watts-Society – Austria is attempting to develop a comparable system. This project analysed the Swiss system regarding planning, evaluation and quality assurance of new housing estates and investigated its transferability to the Austrian context. Requirements for the adaption of benchmarks, criteria, and structures and processes were examined, and a roadmap including next steps for the development of an Austrian rating system was developed.
